If you’re wondering where the best place to buy a property on Costa del Sol is, or perhaps where the cheapest options are, you’re in the right place. Despite the rising cost of living in Spain and across Europe, there are still some Costa del Sol property bargains to be found. The prices vary depending on the type of property, its location, and other factors. In this article, we’ll explore the cheapest places to buy property on the Costa del Sol in 2022.

This ranking is based on the idealista price reports for May 2022, where we compared average house prices per square meter in euros.

Understanding Costa del Sol Prices

It’s important to note that house prices on the Costa del Sol are generally cheaper than in many other parts of Spain. In the province of Málaga, the average price per square meter of properties for sale currently stands at 2,604 euros. This is compared to 3,400 euros in the Balearic Islands, 3,039 euros in Madrid, and 2,727 euros in Barcelona. However, average Costa del Sol house prices are higher than those in Costa Blanca’s Alicante province, where values stand at 1,796 euros.

Living in Costa del Sol

The Costa del Sol is one of the best places to live in Spain, and buying a property there is not an unattainable dream. There is a range of cheap property near Málaga for sale. In this article, we will explore some of the best places to find Costa del Sol property bargains and some of the cheapest places to buy property on the Costa del Sol.

Property in Casares

Casares is a picturesque mountain village located about 15km inland from the prosperous coastal town of Estepona on Spain’s Costa del Sol. Due to its inland location, prices in Casares tend to be lower than in the main coastal towns. The average price per square meter for properties for sale in Casares currently stands at 2,132 euros, below the average of the Málaga province (2,604 euros).

Estepona was one of the first resorts in Spain to attract foreign residents and tourists. In 2022, it’s as prosperous as ever with its friendly atmosphere and numerous beaches. The property market in Estepona also continues to grow, and while you can still find a bargain here, property prices continue to rise year-on-year. Average prices currently stand at 2,620 euros per square meter.

Property in Vélez-Málaga

With 25 kilometers of coastline, Vélez-Málaga has beaches to suit everyone making it another great option for foreign buyers on a budget. Velez-Malaga is the largest municipality in the eastern part of the Costa del Sol, with 82,365 inhabitants and 157.88 square kilometers of territory. With average property prices of 2,092 euros per square meter, you’ll be able to find cheap flats, villas, country houses, and townhouses in the area.

Property in Rincón de la Victoria

Rincón de la Victoria is a municipality on the Eastern Costa del Sol with 9 kilometers of beaches and a wide range of tourist attractions. This Spanish town is great for anyone who wants to live by the sea, but without the price tag of other Costa del Sol locations such as Marbella or Nerja. Average house prices in Rincón de la Victoria currently stand at 2,092 euros per square meter.

Property in Manilva

Manilva offers interesting historical and cultural heritage, meaning there is a wide range of things to see and do. Property prices in the area are also well below the Málaga average and stand at 1,918 euros per square meter, with a wide range of beachfront apartments and villas for sale, and plenty of bargains to be found.

Property in Torrox

Torrox has become one of the most sought-after tourist destinations in Spain due to its pleasant year-round temperature and the tranquillity it offers visitors. Many expats also choose to make Torrox their home for the same reason, not to mention the fact that house prices in the town are reasonable with an average price of 2,128 euros per square meter.
